Directly adjacent to the Museum and ramada are the "garden" areas. We feature a lateral garden which is along the fence as well as a "pueblo" waffle garden.
The garden beds have been put to rest by the volunteer work crews on Saturday, 28 October 2023. It is so strange to walk up the hill and see a barren "pancake" where the waffle garden so recently produced.
We are looking for a volunteer Garden Manager and well as folks to help us with planting and watering through the 2024 season. Please email us at:
if you are interested in assisting us in any way during the 2024 calendar year. Even though the museum keeps seasonal hours (when open) the garden has needs that start early and run late. Won't you join us?
This year, the museum is already closed for the winter season but is still available for visiting by appointment. During the winter months we set our garden plans and work schedule, plan new activities etc. Please contact us today if you would like to be a part of garden activities in the 2024 season.
We continue to offer school visits and visits "by appointment, weather permitting.
(That means if there is rain or snow, we have to make plans for another visit--your safety and comfort and ours, too.)
Please call the Sandia District Ranger Station (505.281.3304) on weekdays between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm for information or to schedule a tour.
